Tristan Lécuyer
Tristan Lécuyer is a Partner at RBB Economics based in Paris and Brussels. He has extensive experience advising clients on a wide variety of competition matters before the European Commission and the French competition authority, and as part of multi-jurisdictional mergers involving multiple competition authorities around the world. His experience includes complex merger assessments, raising horizontal, vertical and conglomerate concerns, as well as antitrust investigations, including abuse of dominant position, horizontal agreements and follow-on damages.
Tristan’s experience includes mergers and acquisitions, raising horizontal, vertical and conglomerate concerns. His merger experience includes European Phase II mergers (Vivendi/Lagardère and Norsk Hydro/Alumetal notably), complex European Phase 1 investigations (Veolia/Suez, Alstom/Bombardier and AB InBev/SAB Miller notably), as well as other transactions in Europe and elsewhere.
Tristan also has extensive experience on antitrust investigations, including abuse of dominant position, alleged information exchanges, cartel investigations and follow-on damages. He recently advised TF1 in relation to a claim by M6, resulting in a complete dismissal by the French Competition Authority of all allegations that TF1 abused its dominant position in the market for television advertising.
Tristan has worked before a large number of national competition authorities around the world, especially in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Tristan has provided economic advice across a wide range of sectors. Clients he has recently worked for include AB InBev, Aegean, Alstom, Apple, Assa Abloy, Barratt, Bouygues Telecom, BP, Electrosteel, Google, Hertz, Hydro, Nexans, Plastic Omnium, Reckitt Benckiser, SEB, Tarkett, Tech Data, TF1, Tronox, Veolia, Vivendi and Xing.
Tristan publishes academic articles in journals to guide industry outlook on competition issues. Particularly interested in challenges raised by "Big Techs", he recently published an article on "Digital conglomerates and killer acquisitions" in Concurrences discussing the competitive effects of start-up acquisitions by digital platforms.
Tristan holds an MSc in Economics from ENSAE ParisTech and an MSc in Management from HEC Paris (Grande Ecole program). He also studied at Tsinghua University in Beijing where he took classes in the MBA program.
A French national, Tristan is fluent in English and French.
