Rirhandzu Mabunda

Rirhandzu is a Senior Associate based in RBB’s Johannesburg office. She joined RBB in May 2021, after a year and a half of working at the Competition Commission of South Africa. Rirhandzu holds a master’s degree in development economics from the University of Johannesburg. She also holds an honors degree in econometrics, and a bachelor’s degree in economics and econometrics (cum laude), from the same university.

Since joining RBB, Rirhandzu has advised on a range of competition matters, including mergers and acquisitions, abuse of dominance investigations, market inquiries, and regulatory issues.

Rirhandzu has worked on multi-jurisdictional matters before the European Commission and before a variety of national competition authorities, including the South African Competition Commission and the UK’s Competition and Market’s Authority (CMA).

Her experience spans a variety of industries including mining, IT infrastructure software, card network systems, broadcasting television, and online search/intermediary platforms.
