Nicola Barrett

Nicola is a Senior Associate based in RBB’s Johannesburg office. She joined RBB in 2022 after completing an MCom in Economics (cum laude) at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Nicola also holds a Business Science in Economics degree from the University of Cape Town.

Since joining RBB, Nicola has provided advice to clients on a range of competition matters before the South African Competition Tribunal and the COMESA Competition Commission. Nicola also has experience on advising clients regarding horizonal and non-horizontal mergers in the EU and the UK.

Some of Nicola’s more recent work includes advising on a multi-jurisdictional merger across several African countries and advising on a merger in the chemicals and mining industry.

Nicola’s experience spans a variety of industries including mining, chemicals, decorative and industrial coatings, security, and socio-economic impact assessments.
