
Johannes Mattke is a Senior Associate at RBB Economics, based in the firm’s London office. He has over six years of experience working as a competition economist. Johannes holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in economics from the University of Amsterdam. He is fluent in English and his native language, German.
Johannes has advised clients on a wide variety of competition cases before the European Commission, the Bundeskartellamt, the Competition and Markets Authority, Ofcom, the Federal Trade Commission, the Competition Commission of India and various other national competition authorities and courts.
He has assisted clients on complex matters such as merger control procedures, cartel investigations, cartel damage claims, market investigations, arbitrations, consumer protection cases and policy evaluations.
His experience spans a range of sectors, including basic materials, energy, entertainment, fast-moving consumer goods, financial services, freight transport, manufacturing, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, specialty chemicals and technology.
He has published articles on cartel damages and sustainability initiatives in the German professional journals Neue Zeitschrift Kartellrecht (NZKart, 2021) and Zeitschrift für Wettbewerbsrecht (ZWeR, 2024).
