Frédéric Fustier

Frédéric Fustier is an Associate Principal based in Paris. He has ten years of experience in competition economics. Prior to joining RBB in 2024, he was the Deputy Chief Economist at the French Competition Authority (FCA).

Frédéric’s experience spans a wide range of competition issues, including horizontal and vertical mergers, abuse of dominance cases (predation, margin squeezes, discriminatory pricing, excessive pricing, unfair trading conditions, exclusivity clauses), economic dependence, vertical restraints (resale price maintenance, restrictions on online sales) and horizontal agreements (capacity agreement, information exchanges, overcharge estimation).

As Deputy Chief Economist of the FCA, Frédéric covered numerous sectors such as online platforms, advertising, network industries (energy, transport, telecom, postal), retail, pay-tv, sport, and multi-sided markets. He was also in charge of all the financial analysis conducted by the FCA, and he took an active part in the implementation and development of the settlement procedure in France. Frédéric pled before the board of the FCA and the court of appeal on numerous occasions in high-stakes cases.

Since joining RBB, Frédéric has provided advice on the grocery markets, the telecom sector, the gaming industry and on industrial goods. Topics cover relevant market definition, market position evaluation, economic dependency, buying alliances, tariff mechanism, and follow-on damages.

Before joining the FCA, Frédéric worked at the French regulator for postal and telecom sectors as Deputy Head of the tariff and cost unit. He started his career in a consultancy firm specialized in the energy sector.

A French national, Frédéric is fluent in French and English.
