Alia Schweiger

Alia Schweiger is a Principal in the Berlin office of RBB Economics. She joined RBB in 2024 after having worked ten years on competition matters at another leading economic consultancy in Germany.

Alia is recognised as a Future Leader by Who’s Who Legal. Clients praise her for her “farsighted approach to economic analyses” and for having a “keen eye for the required level of detail while keeping sight of all ‘balls in the air’”.

Alia advises clients on competition matters across all industry sectors. She has extensive experience with Phase I and Phase II transactions before the European Commission and national competition authorities, including those in Germany, Austria and Poland. Notable cases include Wienerberger/Terreal, Real/Kaufland, RHI/Magnesita, Miba/Zollern, Remondis/DSD, Novomatic/Casino Austria, Immonet/Immowelt, and EDEKA/Kaiser’s Tengelmann.

Alia has also represented clients in private damages litigation following cartel investigations (beer, sugar, payment cards), including pay-for-delay agreements in the pharmaceutical industry.

She has advised clients on a wide variety of abuse of dominance cases, including her recent support of a large digital platform in the German FCO’s Section 19a ARC investigation regarding the paramount significance of competition across markets and related abuse proceedings.

Alia’s sector-specific expertise spans online platforms (ecosystems, e-commerce, search engines, advertising, price comparison tools), FMCG (beer, sugar), payment cards and systems, pharmaceuticals, transport (rail freight, rental cars), construction materials, recycling and waste, and grocery retail.

She holds an MSc in Economics from Humboldt University of Berlin and is fluent in English and German.
