Regulatory developments: what’s new for UK and EU merger control

RBB’s Paul ReevePaul ReevePartner will join industry leaders at the Concurrences International Mergers Conference in London on 21 May. Paul will participate in the afternoon panel covering regulatory developments in UK and EU merger control.

The panel will discuss events which have collectively underscored a heightened focus on stringent merger oversight and regulatory compliance, including:

• EU revised Implementing Regulation, a Notice on Simplified Procedure, and a Communication to simplify procedures under the EU Merger Regulation (April 2023),

• EU revised Article 102 guidance and updates on enforcement priorities (March 2023),

• The EU Court of Justice’s Towercast ruling which empowered national competition authorities to review acquisitions by dominant companies that fall below EU or national merger control thresholds (March 2023).
