On 8 October the European Commission gave unconditional clearance for Swedish mobile network operator Tele2’s acquisition of fixed line and TV service provider Com Hem.
The Commission found that the parties’ activities were largely complementary, and ruled out conglomerate foreclosure effect concerns arising from the merged entity’s ability to offer bundled multiplay services spanning mobile, fixed and TV services. The merger investigation ran in parallel with a Commission investigation of potential anti-competitive behaviour by Swedish telecoms providers that began in 2017 and was closed in October 2018.
RBB worked with Vinge, counsel to Tele2, to assess competition aspects of the transaction throughout the signing, pre-notification and notification process.
