On 2 August 2012 the South African Competition Tribunal granted conditional clearance to the acquisition by DCD-Dorbyl of Elgin Brown and Hamer. This follows a conditional approval of the deal by the Competition Commission, but is subject to fewer and significantly less onerous conditions than contained in the Competition Commission’s original approval. The transaction also received conditional clearance from the Namibian Competition Commission in 19 July 2012.RBB economists produced a detailed economic assessment of the transaction, which was to the Competition Commission during its investigation.
