On 30 October 2023, the German Competition Authority, Bundeskartellamt, granted unconditional approval to major supermarket chain REWE on its proposed takeover of 15 supermarket locations of “mein real”.
Having conducted a comprehensive Phase I investigation, the Bundeskartellamt concluded that the planned transaction does not raise competition concerns on any of the affected markets and consumers would have access to a sufficient number of alternative supermarkets.
