On 5 February 2007 the UK Office of Fair Trading cleared the proposed merger between Premier Foods and RHM without conditions. The merger involved the combination of a number of leading UK branded food products, including Oxo and Bisto. The OFT concluded that the merger would not result in a substantial lessening of competition, due to a combination of factors including competition from private label products and the threat of increased imports from mainland Europe.
