On 11 August, the UK CMA unconditionally cleared the acquisition by the MSV Group of the Circuit Business operating at the Donington Park motor racing circuit. MSV owns and operates four motor racing circuits in the UK, namely Brands Hatch, Oulton Park, Snetterton and Cadwell Park, and also operates Bedford Autodrome, while the Donington Business operated motorsports events and supplied track time to third parties at Donington Park. The CMA investigated potential concerns arising from overlaps between the parties in the sale of tickets to spectators of major motorsports events, such as the British Superbike Championships and British Touring Car Championships, and the supply of track time to third parties such as racing clubs and track day operators. In each case, the CMA found limited evidence of head-to-head competition between the parties and that sufficient competitive constraints from other circuits will remain. An RBB team led by Patrick Smith and Iestyn Williams provided economic analysis and advice to Berwin Leighton Paisner, solicitors acting for the MSV Group.
