On 16 June 2006, the Dutch Competition Authority NMa unconditionally cleared the merger of two housing corporations in Eindhoven, following a second phase inquiry. As a result of the merger, the parties (Hhvl and SWS) will have a market share of around 50% in the relevant market for social housing in the greater Eindhoven area. Whilst the NMa had investigated a number of housing corporation mergers over the last couple of years, this is the first housing corporation merger for which the NMa opened an in-depth investigation. RBB, working closely with Dutch law firm Faasen & Partners, provided economic advice to both parties to the transaction throughout the second phase procedure.
