The European Commission has cleared the proposed acquisition of Olympic Air by Aegean Airlines, Greece’s two largest airlines. The Commission's in-depth investigation has shown that Olympic Air would be forced to exit the market in the near future due to financial difficulties if not acquired by Aegean. The deal was first prohibited in 2011 by the Commission, but since then market conditions have worsened.RBB alongside White & Case advised Aegean for this second attempt to notify the transaction under EU merger regulation.
